Working Somatically at our Spiritual Edge

We all have spiritual edges. We meet these when exposed to spiritual ideas or experiences that trigger hesitation, fear, skepticism or any number of other reactions. To grow spiritually, we need to work with these edges.

Understood through the lens of the Enneagram, we can see that to cope with a painful loss of spiritual meaning and connection early in childhood, we create a personality that becomes the focus of much of our lives.  There is within us a profound spiritual potential. This truth is not knowable through our ordinary consciousness. It is this unseen potential that is the Essence of who we are.  The thing is we can’t just say “okay, now I am going to live in my Essence.” Our personalities, our egos, if you will, resist stepping aside.

In this workshop, participants will be invited to experience how their Enneagram type shows up in body sensations when they express a desire to embrace their spiritual edge and then, through a process of being present with them, loosen them. This is the somatic work. The invitation is to be present with whatever comes up trusting that our process unfolds with a timing that is right in ways that are beyond our knowing.
