A Time to Deepen into Things that Give Us Solace

April 29, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am EDT

$25

Wednesday, April 29:  1-3pm

We have talked about how we are coping. Saturday, we will spent time with “solace,”  which is less about managing and more about deep comfort.

As we travel through the pandemic together, it becomes increasingly clear that this will be a long process – on physical and economic levels yes, but also on an emotional level.  While our first responses have been to cope, to manage what we are feeling, the specifics driven by our Type, we are now in a phase that requires adapting to the long haul.  We likely have found some rhythm to our days, some focus for our efforts and some capacity to “be with.”  But as the reality settles that “going back to normal” is unlikely any time soon, there is grief at what is lost – about what is no longer part of our days and may not return.  We are not necessarily aware of it.  And although we may actually feel relieved at some of the changes that are happening, there is still a loss of the familiar and there is grief.  It is part of what makes us so unaccountably tired, some of the time.

Grief requires more than coping.  We need to feel it and we need comfort.  Solace is consolation or comfort even though something difficult is happening.

So, the question will be – what gives you comfort, whether or not you have recognized it.  What is it important for you, what will sustain you on an ongoing basis, as we live on in this time.  For me, it is a deepening connection to and very present love for the natural world, and a deepening of the friendships in my life, as they grow to include facing this together.

What is it that will be important for you to nurture going forward. It may be to cultivate silence, it may be to more consciously open to the spiritual ground of life … it may be other things altogether …

How are you handling grief?  What do you want to bring attention and intention to that gives you solace? What is in the way – how do you resist?

Cost – $25 or pay what you can.
