These are unprecedented times – first of all, the uncertainties of a pandemic, and now a global movement for systemic change to bring equity for racialized and indigenous peoples.

Both affect all of us.  Both invite us into self-reflection.  Both invite us to see if our lived lives are consistent with our espoused values of love and inclusion.

There is now an underlying anxiety that is moving us and the larger society to return to the way things were.  But do we need to?  In this moment, things are loosened and it is an unusual opportunity to bring about sustainable change, not only within ourselves, which we have been looking at very steadily, but also in the larger societal systems.

The possibility, even likelihood, of change can bring fear and fear creates a desire for security.  And the desire for security leads us to prioritize ourselves and our loved ones, especially if we believe that when others gain, we lose.  This is a belief and what we have been learning is that our type’s beliefs often run us at the expense of the wisdom of our hearts.  As spiritual people, it is the wisdom of our hearts that we seek.

This gathering will look at how we are responding to the possible changes, how our responses reflect our type and how we might engage the potential of the moment with enthusiasm and take the actions that are ours to do.

This feels like a rare opportunity to participate in something very important, locally and globally.
